Profile of Principal Mrs. Neelam Gandhi
Born on 15th Nov in the year 1956, did her Post Graduation in English and thereafter B.Ed. She started her career as a teacher in DAV Public School, Sector 14, Faridabad. She took over as Headmistress of a feeder school and remained there for three years. She took over the reins of DAV Public School, Sector 37, Faridabad in 1995. Devoid of any accommodation, funds and support, she took over the challenge to build the institution. The school became independent and came under the direct control of DAV College Managing Committee in the year 1997. With few assets to look upon and problem a galore she took the challenge in different Prospective, taking problems as potential source of awakening and as an opportunity to practice patience and to learn. With five rooms as accommodation, 150 students and a total staff of 20 the challenge was a mountainous task. She never lost her courage and took difficulties in their own stride. Today the Institution has three glorious four storey blocks having 130 rooms and over 3700 students with a trained, fully qualified and dedicated staff of over 150. Another independent block having basement, ground floor and auditorium is under construction. The basement will have an audio video conference hall, a gym and all indoor game facilities. The ground floor will have two computer labs, all other language labs and other ancillary facilities. On the first floor will be the auditorium having a seating capacity of more than 1500 and a stage. The school is senior secondary level and is affiliated to CBSE. It is an ISO2001:2008 certified for the last four years. Our board results for X and XII have been outstanding. The school is located in the heart of Sector 37 and with her contribution it has achieved name and fame in various academic and other activities.
In the Educational field, the school can boast of having the best Science Laboratories in the district of Faridabad. It has a Well Equipped Computer Labs, Own Website, Internet Facilities, e-connected online facilities both for Education and Student ID’s. Profile of a student can be seen by the parents online and guidance by the student in teaching can be obtained through internet. It has over 20000 books in the Library both relating to relevant academic subjects and other fields of life. She herself is a keen reader and fond of having nice collection of books.
In the field of Sports, she has brought this school in the forefront in short span of time at all levels may it be District, Zonal or State. The school had proud privilege of organized CBSE Cluster tournaments, Mahatma Hansraj Sports as well as Youth festival, Day-Night Cricket tournaments and has produced National Champions in Indoor Cricket tournament. The school has won many trophies and medals at various levels. The school has almost all sports ground of its own.
In order to develop the overall personality of students, she encourages the students to take part in District, State and National level Cultural Programmes, Debates, Quiz, Mathematic Olympiads, National Talent Search Scholarship and other such activities.Our students have won various prizes at National and International level.
The school is a member of SPIC MACAY which teaches and demonstrates to the students the rich heritage of Indian Culture.
Having gone through the difficulties and suffering on the Journey to Progress, she has developed the liberal and universal compassion for the uplift of socially and economically weaker sections. The school is contributing to the association of Handicapped Children, Spastic Society and Girl-Child Help age. The school has a dedicated doctor of its own to look after the health of Children, in addition to this the students are put through various Immunization treatments also like Typhoid, Hepatitis, Dental care and Eye Screening.
A great propagator of Vedic Culture, the fundamental cardinals of DAV Culture are not only being followed but also they are being nursed and practiced by way of daily Yagya routines and by organizing Yog Sadhna Shivirs, Charitranirmar Shiviris and 24 Kundli Yagnas. The school has the proud privilege having the most spacious Yagya shala of its own.
She is doing a yo-man service for promoting the values of Arya Samaj. Every year 51 to 101 kundli yajnas are held in the school with the aim to integrate more and more people with the Arya Samaj. A meeting of Arya Pratinidhi up Sabha was also held in the school in the year 2006 was held in this school thereover 10000 people attended the meeting. PadamBhushan Sh. G.P.Chopra ji alongwith other dignitaries attended the meeting. We are also holding regular yoga shivirs in the school. We have also been successful in removing the spects of students through yoga, pranayam and ayurvedic medicines. This unique achievement has been hailed by the live and print media. She has also been appointed Minister of Publicity for Arya samaj by Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, Mandir Marg, New Delhi. She has strong determination, clear vision and above all a very humane approach towards the needy. For the upliftment of women below poverty line she has started a Tailoring Training centre with the help of Lala Diwan Chand Charitable Trust, New Delhi, which provides free of cost training to ladies and then help them in getting employment in Garment Export Houses. Rs.50,000/- were donated by Lala Diwan Chand Trust and more than Rs.1,50,000/- have been donated by the staff and other dignitaries from outside. At present, there are seven single needle machines and one four needle overlocking machine. We are having a well trained instructor employed to train these ladies on the pattern of Garment Export House modules, so that they can get an easy employment. So far 24 such ladies have been employed in reputed Garment Export Houses. A group of 30 ladies are under training at present and they will also be employed in the first week of April. We are also training certain ladies who wish to open their own boutique. The opening ceremony of this tailoring centre was done by Shri Rajender Gupta and Justice R.N. Mittal. The efforts of the school were highly appreciated by the various dignitaries who came to attend the opening ceremony. She is also a pillar of strength to EVAD an NGO looking after the deaf, dumb and blind children , Global Cancer Society and Goonj. In all such activities she is always the role model and is on the lookout to help more and more needy people.
She has been to Japan, China, Austrailia, Switzerland, Italy and Germany on Educational and Cultural Exchange Programmes. Such exchanges have been very useful in promoting certain new ideas in the field of Academics. She has been awarded Shakuntalam Samman, Dr.S.Radhakrishnana Award, National Humanity Award, Peace and Education Award, Spardha Shree Award, Bhartiya Sahitya Shree Samman, Green Earth Award, Dronacharya Award and Sarla Chopra Memorial Samman by Avantika for her excellent contribution in the field of education. She has also been awarded by the Russian Cultural Foundation and Red Cross Society for her contribution in the field of education and environment and for promotion of first aid training.
She has also been given the designation of Commissioner by Avantika – A group contemporary artists & intellectuals – Visual, Vocal & Instrumental. She has also been awarded by Lalithkala Academy of Fine Arts Education and Kalabharti Child Art Institute for outstanding contribution towards promotion of Art. She has been appreciated by Science Olympiad Foundation. She has been Awarded Certificate of Excellence by DAV Institute of Management for excellent achievement in Academics. She has also received certificate of Social Work by Global Cancer Concern India for contribution in spreading awareness about cancer. She has also received Global teacher Certificate by EF Educational Tours. She has been awarded the Ideal Principal Award by Akhil Bhartiya Nagrik Vikas Kendra.Society of Science Education has appreciated her for her significant contribution to popularize Computer Science Education.
